Cloud Storage Safety (Google Drive)

For organizations with Google Workspace connected as your Identity Provider, we also have a Cloud Storage Safety report page to give you deeper insight to how files in your Google Drive are being shared publicly.
This page can be found at https://console.zipsec.com/cloudstorage.

Who this is for?

This feature is automatically available as long as you’ve connected Google as an Identity Provider. We are working on building this out for Microsoft (OneDrive and Sharepoint) soon! Let us know if you have additional feedback on integrations and providers you’d like to see.

What it shows

Top Weekly Public Sharers

This shows the members in your organization who have shared the most amount of files publicly in the past week.

Public Files Shared

This shows recently shared files, what the current visibility is, the file owner, and an assessment of the risk of the file.
The AI assessment labels can be enabled by toggling “Analyze with AI” On at the top of the page, and uses context from the file title to help you prioritize and quickly find files that may be riskier.

Recent Public Sharing Events

This shows logs of recent share events that make files public. This shows the file, the user who shared it, and the changes made to the visibility and permissions.
This also includes files that inherit sharing permissions from a parent folder, so not all events will have an associated actor.

FAQs

I just edited the sharing permissions of a file to be private but it’s not updated in Zip.
Logs take some time to populate in Google, so any edits to files may take a few minutes to show up in Zip. You can trigger a data sync by clicking the refresh icon in the top right of the Zip console, and clicking “Sync”.
This seems like a lot less data than I’d expect. Is this comprehensive?
Google only retains logs up to a limited time span, so it may not be comprehensive of your entire workspace history. Each table shows the earliest event log we’re able to show.
“Top Weekly Public Sharers” only shows users who are frequently making files public in the past week to focus on the most relevant and recent changes.
